Entertainment and Media Partner Joel Weiner commented on the convergence of First Amendment issues—freedom of the press, public interest and personal privacy in the digital age—at stake in Hulk Hogan's $100 million privacy suit against gossip website Gawker. He stated, "If Gawker wins, it may expand the law permitting media to publish private material illegally obtained by a third party. If Hogan wins and obtains a significant remedy, the result could impact not only gossip media, but also have ripple effect on media outlets outside the entertainment context that could chill free speech if the ruling is not carefully limited to its facts." Joel also noted that any outcome will likely be appealed. ("Is Hulk Hogan's Tape News? That's For A Jury To Decide," March 4, 2016)
